BRIEF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

I am an Italian national and lived in Italy for 32 years where I worked as an accountant and as a youth worker in the community in a voluntary capacity. I moved to England in 1998 and started my career change by taking the opportunity to turn my experience of working with children and families into a professional career.

Whilst studying psychology at University I became aware of the importance and complexity of family relationships being rooted in our family beliefs, a specific cultural background and their significant impact on the way we look at the world, how we relate to others, how we think about ourselves as individuals and members of a new family, and the wider socio-cultural, economic and political context. This led to undertaking the four-year clinical master in systemic and family psychotherapy.

I have gained a dual expertise in social care and systemic and family psychotherapy working for the Local Authority in Children's Services for 10 years. I have worked in a Looked After Children Team for 2 years and in a Child Protection agency for 8 years. I feel passionate about supporting children and their families who have experienced high level of abuse e.g. neglect, sexual, emotional harm and at high risk of further abuse. I am currently offering my expertise in post adoption support in the form of clinical systemic work with traumatised children and their families e.g. family attachments work, behaviour management, identity development, life story work, NVR approach to child to parent violence (For further information see my biography).

I am a visiting lecturer for the Tavistock and NHS Portman, London. I taught on an agency based training in Systemic Practice in Richmond and Kingston Integrated Services in 2014-2015.  Prior to this I was a tutor at the Institute of Family Therapy, (IFT) London for 4 years, teaching and training multi-disciplinary professionals in systemic practice (first year) from 2009 to 2013.

I have bee a committe member of the Sussex Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and national representatitve for Sussex for 10 years. Its aim is to promote systemic knowledge and practice by organising local affordable workshops.  I was also a panel member of CRED for 5 years, a committee within AFT which is responsible for accreditation and development of family therapy and systemic courses across the UK to maintain high standards of teaching and trainin.

Thank you for taking the time to consider a systemic and family approach to your difficulties or to your professional needs. I am committed to respect my clients' diversity of beliefs, values, cultures, religions, sexual orientation, gay affirnative practice, life experiences, family background and welcome feedback on my practice should anyone feel discriminated against or not valued as a person in therapy. Please feel free to call me to discuss your specific needs and find out more about what I can offer to support you at this time.
